Grand Theft Auto V, GTA V was initially announced to be released this Spring. But it has been delayed.
The company’s Rockstar Games studio said it will release “Grand Theft Auto V” on Sept. 17 — later than the previously expected launch in the spring (most analysts were pegging a May release). In its statement, the studio said the delay was made “in order to allow additional development time” for the game, which is not an unheard-of move for high-profile, triple-A game titles that are increasingly the only ones that still sell well at retailers.
However, a fall release also exposes GTA V to more competition with other big releases. While the release calendar has not yet firmed up for the season, analysts widely expect another “Call of Duty” release from Activision , as well as the next “Battlefield” iteration from Electronic Arts .
Also, a new “Saints Row” title may also see the light of day, despite the bankruptcy of its previous owner THQ Inc. The title was picked up by Koch Media’s publishing arm Deep Silver. The fact that “Saints Row” is a competing urban shooter franchise may or may not force its new owner to adjust its release plans; no details about “Saints Row 4″ have been announced at this time.
Well, whatever be the case, it is very disappointing to hear that the release has been released.
This time Rockstar has announced an exact date of release for GTA V, that would be 17th September 2013.
Rockstar released the below press releasing confirming the delay:
“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time.
“GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.
“To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”
