Exciting news guys, the Perseids Meteor Shower is all set to start on August 12th 2010. In case you miss it on 12th you might also be able to catch it on 13th August 2010. This is really going to light up the sky.
The Perseid Meteor Shower is expected to start shortly after sunset on August 12, and there should be as little as one shooting star every hour. The meteor shower is expected to produce a more than average amount of shooting stars, this should be a much appreciated show for those of us who missed the northern lights.
However there might be one problem though: the moon tends to be very bright this time of year and can make the shooting stars less visible, however if you go outside and see a dark sky you shouldn’t have to wait long before you see a couple shooting stars. The shower actually started on July 17th but has been scattered and won’t pick up in intensity until August 12th and 13th. The showers are mostly visible in the Northern Hemisphere, so chances are you’re going to see some meteor action if you happen to venture outside at night.
