Recently Google Adsense, Google’s program that allows websites to earn revenue by placing Google’s ads has updated its terms and conditions.Google Adsense has now introduced “internet-based” advertising. Now its compulsory for every Adsense publishers(those who display Google’s ads on their website) to have a privacy policy that explicitly mentions that Google will track and record the visitor/user’s behavior inorder to display them relavent ads. I don’t know how you guys feel about this but when I got an email from Adsense about this I was really shocked. I think its enough of how much Google tracks us when we use their services. Now they just want more. What happen to my privacy ? Can’t I do anything in the internet without Google watching me ?
When I came to know about how Google tracks all my searches and my mail when I use Gmail I pretty much stopped using Google search and switched to alternatives like Live Search but nevertheless Google was still my primary search engine because it gave me the best results. But all this while Google’s prying eyes were only limited to its services. They can only watch me when I used their services but now they just gone a bit too much.
I just can’t imagine that the Big Daddy is watching me even when I am at an other site with Google ads. Google’s behaviour tracking of a user is just not acceptable. But they have their reason “Relavent Ads”. I have to admit I love the services offered by Google but hate to know that they are watching my every move.
Google’s user behavior tracking starting with its search engine and eventually moved into their other services like gmail etc inorder to know our interests and display ads relavent to it. They never delete any activity we do using google service. Even after 10 years Google can tell you what exactly you searched for 10 years back and the exact keyword you used. Google’s Gmail service also functions in the same way. All mails you delete from your Gmail account are never deleted from Google’s servers they stay there even after you delete your mails from your trash. How much data can these guys store in their servers ??
All this and Google is still not satisfied and decided it needs to know more about the users.
What do you think of Google’s new policy ? Do you think its a brench in your privacy ?
