Legendary singer, Aretha Franklin is battling pancreatic cancer and is recovering at a hospital after undergoing surgery last week.
Longtime friend, Reverend Jesse Jackson, visited the singer at the hospital and told the Associated Press that her “spirits are high, and her faith is strong. She’s conscious, communicating and taking daily walks up and down the hall.”
The 68-year old motown singer announced last week that she had undergone a surgical procedure and while she did not give any details, she did release a statement saying it was “highly successful.”
Last month, Franklin announced she was canceling all concerts and appearances through May on orders from her doctors.
According to reports, Franklin has the same pancreatic cancer that killed Patrick Swayze and Michael Landon.
Franklin was born in Memphis, Tennessee but grew up in Detroit, Michigan.
