Marvin Isley Dies at 56

Marvin Isley died on the morning of Sunday at Weiss Memorial Hospital located in Chicago. He was 56 years old. He was one of the members of Isley Brothers R&B Band and was the youngest of all. He performed the duties of bassist in the band.

The reason of the death is told to be diabetes. He battled with diabetes for above 20 years and he did lose his legs in the year 1997 because of this disease. The band was formed in 1954 by the three of elder Isley brothers named Ronald, O’Kelly and Rudolph.

It was in the year 1973 when Marvin joined the band along with the guitarist Ernie Isley and one of their cousins Chris. It was after that when the band started to get fame and recognition by providing good music.

In the span of 5 years between 1975 and 1980, 14 songs of the band became very popular and came in top 10 charts. The Isley Brothers were also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the year 1992 and he gave his last performance in 1997 before losing his both legs due to diabetes. In 1984 Marvin, Chris and Ernie separated from the band and created their own band named Isley Jasper Isley and their song Caravan of Love became the no. 1 R&B song.

The bassist has left behind his wife along with a son and 2 daughters. He was born on 18th August 1953 in Cincinnati and graduated in music in 1976 from C.W. Post College. He changed the style of music and will be remembered by fans.
