IPL 7 Mumbai Indians defeat Rajasthan qualify for Semi Finals

Mumbai Indians made an dramatic fairy tale comeback and defeated Rajasthan Royals to qualify for the IPL7 Playoffs.

Asked to score 190 runs in 14.3 overs, in order to qualify for the playoff, one would think Mumbai don’t stand a chance for the playoff.

The Mumbai Indians batman determined to see their team in playoff put all their strength and will towards hitting boundaries and sixes. At one point, for ten overs, Mumbai scored around 128 odd runs thanks to the breathtaking innings by Kiwi player Corey Anderson  and a cameo by Hussey.

Anderson’s knock dazzled the opposition at one end but wickets kept on losing at other end to an extend that Mumbai was facing batting collapse.

When Ambati Rayadu joined Anderson in the crease, hoped seemed to have risen for the Mumbai team and fear was raising among Rajasthan camp.

It all went down to last 2 balls (from 14.3 to qualify) thanks to the disciplined over from Rajathan  player Tambe. Mumbai needed 8 runs from 2 balls where the first ball was hit to six by Rayadu for the balling of James Faulkner who along with Captain Shane Watson failed to deliver for Rajasthan today.

Mumbai required 2 runs from 1 ball and there was a dramatic runout of Rayadu which left him in tears. Facing with the hard truth of not being qualified, Mumbai seemed to have been scattered and celebrations begin in Rajasthan camp until Net run rate played spoil sport for them.

Remember, Mumbai required 190 runs from 14.3 to qualify whereas they still have remaining 5.3 overs in hand with 1 run to win and the sensational opportunity knocked Mumbai with an option to hit a boundary or a six in the next delivery so that the winning run with additional five runs could favor an increase in net rate.

Then came Mumbai batsman Tare, who was given a task to hit a six in his first delivery for Semi qualification.

Boy! that is huge. 1 ball, a six required to qualify and the weight of the team and its chances came to Tare’s shoulder who proved his worth by sending Faulkner’s loose delivery to six.

Mumbai camp boost up in joy, running wild in field. To join them, Mumbai’s Sachin Tendulkar came to the field congratulating its players for their win.

Corey Anderson was declared the man of match  for his breath taking 95 runs for 44 balls.

Kings XI Punjab, kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Superkings and Mumbai Indians will lock against each other in IPL 7 Semis.
