Giants are down

Google, has officially blacked out its logo for US visitors encouraging its users to speak out against the senate to stop the bill.

Google’s home page read “Tell Congress: Please don’t censor the web!”

Upon clicking Googles hyperlink Please Dont Censor the web, the users are directed to a webpage  that reads ,

Millions of Americans oppose SOPA and PIPA because these bills would censor the Internet and slow economic growth in the U.S.

And has a petition to sign against the bill. We recommend you to sign the petition and raise your voice on Virtual slavery. You can sign the petition via Google take action.

Wikipedia, has gone dark today protesting the Bill. Wikipedia official page reads,

“Imagine a World Without Free Knowledge,” said the stark message in white letters on a black and gray background.

“For over a decade, we have spent millions of hours building the largest encyclopedia in human history. Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering legislation that could fatally damage the free and open Internet. For 24 hours, to raise awareness, we are blacking out Wikipedia.”

Our writer Tommy had an interesting take on Wikipedia’s fight against SOPA. you can read the story here

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “The Internet is the most powerful tool we have for creating a more open and connected world”

“We can’t let poorly thought out laws get in the way of the Internet’s development. Facebook opposes SOPA and PIPA, and we will continue to oppose any laws that will hurt the Internet.”

Why is it necessary to stop the SOPA bill from passing?

The readers may wonder, why the entire web giants are going against the SOPA.

We are not against SOPA but against the poorly designed law that the SOPA holds. The law has been documented in a rush with a overwhelming support from entertainment industry.

This law will give extensive right to companies to block the domain names of web sites that would appear to encourage copyright infringement.

So if SOPA is passed,  Youtube is done, Facebook will be done, Yahoo will be done, all other websites will be destroyed.

Speak out against the SOPA.  Remember if you fail to do it today, then tomorrow your most visited websites  could disappear forever.

Contact a politician today and tell them what you think:
